Integrity
Unhooked wants to be a place where you feel safe.
In a session, at a brunch, in the editorial team, online. If something happens that is not okay, or you are unsure whether it was okay, you can speak to our integrity contact. You can also get in touch if it concerns someone on our team.
What can you report?
Anything that crosses your boundaries. For example:
- someone pressuring, bullying, excluding or ridiculing you
- unwanted comments, touching or messages
- someone taking photos, recordings or screenshots when you do not want them to
- someone contacting you outside the official channels in a way that does not feel right
- discrimination, for any reason
- something in an editorial video or post about you without your permission
- a suspected conflict of interest or unfair use of money or data
You do not have to be certain. Having doubts is enough.
Who can you contact?
Arieke Blancke is the integrity liaison officer. She is always there for you. You can always contact Arieke at unhooked.integriteit@protonmail.com.
Arieke works independently of the coordination team and the board of Ethercentrum vzw. She decides what happens in close consultation with you. Nothing goes any further without you knowing about it.
What happens after you report something?
- You will receive a reply within [three working days].
- You can tell us what happened at your own pace, alone or with someone you trust beside you.
- Together you can decide what you want: simply to be heard, a conversation with the person involved, a measure, or a referral to support.
- What you tell us stays confidential. The only exception is when someone is in danger; Arieke will tell you what she plans to do first.
- We will let you know what happened with your report.
Would you rather speak to someone outside Unhooked?
That is okay. These free, confidential services are outside Unhooked:
- Awel: for anyone up to age 25. Call 102 or chat at awel.be.
- 1712: for violence, abuse or child abuse. Call 1712.
- JAC: a youth advice centre near you, for any question. jac.be.
- Nupraatikerover.be: chat if something happened that you cannot discuss with anyone.
- For a criminal offence: the police.
What we promise
This is how we work. These rules are also in the code of conduct signed by every facilitator, editorial team member and board member.
- Sessions are private spaces. No recordings, screenshots or sharing names outside the session.
- Facilitators contact participants only through official channels (email, the WhatsApp channel, the editorial community). Never privately and never at night.
- No one-to-one meetings between a facilitator and a minor participant outside a public space.
- Photos and video are made only with permission, and for participants under 18, permission from a parent too. You can withdraw that permission at any time.
- Alcohol is not offered to anyone under 18, including at brunches.
- Editorial team members never make anything about an identifiable person without their agreement.
- We do not sell our data.
- Every report is recorded, anonymised and reported to the board each year as a total number.
For parents and organisations
Is your child or group taking part in a workshop? You can always contact the facilitator or Arieke beforehand. The full code of conduct and integrity policy of Ethercentrum vzw are here: [link to PDF].
